International Cooperation

  • Hyperthermia Unit at Erasmus MC Cancer Institute, the Netherlands - the Hyperthermia (HT) group is embedded in the dept. Radiation Oncology of the Erasmus MC Cancer Institute. The dept. of Radiation Oncology is equipped with 12 linear accelerators, Brachytherapy and Hyperthermia facilities. The Rotterdam HT group has an international reputation for implementing HT-treatment in addition to radio- or chemotherapy as daily routine and for its research program for HT-applicator design and treatment planning all focused on optimization of the HT quality. HT equipment available includes a BSD2000-3D/MRI hybrid for MR-guided deep HT, a regular BSD2000-3D for deep HT and their designed Hypercollar3D for heating tumors in the head and neck, as well as the multi-applicator 434MHz system for adaptive superficial hyperthermia. We cooperate with this group on:
    1. development of universal hyperthermia treatment planning system,
    2. novel waveguide and metamaterial based systems for superficial hyperthermia treatments.
